In 2008, Noreen carried out research into new areas within the traditional Computing discipline. This research fed into the initiation of the development of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Digital Media & Society in association with a number of colleagues in GMIT Mayo.
This is the most recent technology degree to be offered by GMIT, and is only available at GMIT Mayo. The graduates from this honours degree will be able to fill the new Digital Media jobs of today and into the future. “Our graduate is different from other Digital Media graduates in their understanding of the influence of digital media on society, their highly developed communication and team-work skills and ability to apply it all in the technology driven manner. This degree will equip them with the skills and competence to learn and develop in the ever changing digital world.”
Noreen is experiencing first-hand the demand and issues businesses are facing daily getting online and staying noticed online, “Our Digital Media students are becoming much sought after, companies are getting in touch with us on a weekly basis looking for help and offering vast opportunities for students and graduates”.
